An era of rising hope: Addressing the impact of Lake Baringo’s water challenges to support and restore the community

We are reversing the poison in Lake Baringo.
Lake Baringo has long exposed residents to health risks from naturally high fluoride levels, causing dental and skeletal fluorosis. 

The ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis facility supported by DuPont Water Solutions directly addresses these risks, ensuring the community has reliable access to clean water and supporting better health and well-being for children and their families.

We are reversing the poison in Lake Baringo
Lake Baringo has long exposed residents to health risks from naturally high fluoride levels, causing dental and skeletal fluorosis.

But the good news is that as we marked World Water Day, over 20,000 people in the Kampi Ya Samaki community in Baringo County gained access to safe drinking water with the launch of a KSh 71 million (USD 430,000) treatment plant.

The ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis facility supported by DuPont Water Solutions directly addresses these risks, ensuring the community has reliable access to clean water and supporting better health and well-being for children and their families.

This project was implemented by ChildFund International in partnership with DuPont Water Solutions, the County Government of Baringo,
Central RiftValley Water Works, Davis & Shirtliff, Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, and the CENTRAL RIFT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, with great support and leadership from the Kampi ya Samaki community.

Restoring Health in Lake Baringo: Combating Fluoride for Clean, Safe Water and Healthier Lives

Water is life. But what happens when the water we rely on becomes a hidden risk? What should sustain life instead threatens it, leading to serious health challenges for communities that depend on these sources every day.

In Lake Baringo, Baringo County, fluoride levels in the water exceed the safe limit of 1.5 mg/L. This is where the Kampi ya Samaki defluoridation “Fluoride Free’ Project comes in.

With a solution from DuPont Water Solutions, this initiative is reducing fluoride levels and improving water quality.

Advancing Digital Learning for Early years

We are advancing digital literacy for early learners in Kenya. 342 children now have early access to safe digital skills and learning.  The initiative, implemented in collaboration with DOW and Loho Learning, reflects a shared commitment to equipping young children with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Access to digital learning at an early age helps children build confidence and curiosity. It’s not just about technology; it’s about opening doors to opportunity.
