Childcare centre offers a lifeline for student mothers and their children in Rongo Universty

Pursuing higher education while caring for a young child can be a significant challenge for many student mothers. At Rongo University, the Childcare Centre is helping ease that burden by providing a safe and supportive environment where children can learn, play and receive quality care while their mothers work towards their academic goals.

Established by Rongo University with support from ChildFund through our local implementing partner, Lake Region Development Program (LRDP), under the Nurturing Care Project, the centre enables student mothers to participate more fully in university life, knowing their children are in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

Beyond childcare, the facility promotes early learning and social development, giving children a strong foundation during their formative years. At the same time, it helps ensure that young mothers can continue their education and build better futures for themselves and their families
