Women and power: Women in Fuata Nyayo embrace table banking as a way to economic independence

They say “a penny saved, is a penny earned.” Well, members of Commercial B Self-Help Group are counting every shilling to the bank, accrued from the voluntary Savings and Loans method they practice, popularly known as table banking. Gladys Gachanja visited them at one of their meetings and brings us a story of women and some men, who have acquired economic independence, a shilling at a time.

In 2024, ChildFund Kenya allocated 83% of its total operating expenses to programs supporting vulnerable children, families, and communities.
