This costed National Plan of Action to Tackle Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse is a historic document and the first of its kind in Kenya. It aims to guide government, industry, policymakers, civil society organizations and communities to take the right measures to ensure the internet is safe for children.

The KNCHR and Joining Forces Alliance – Kenya, recap that the Government, specifically the Cabinet Secretary of Labour and Social Protection has the sole responsibility of administering the Children’s Act and therefore must ensure strict compliance with Section 4 of the Act which stipulates the Survival and best interests of the child.

This evaluation sought to establish children’s level of understanding of their rights to protection and how they utilize formal and community-based child protection structures to address cases of abuse, and establish existing linkages between formal and informal community-based child protection systems.

The Children Act, 2022, is an act of Parliament to give effect to Article 53 of the Constitution; to make provision for children rights, parental responsibility, alternative care of children including guardianship, foster care placement and adoption; to make provision for care and protection of children and children in conflict with the law; to make provision for, and regulate the administration of children services; to establish the National Council for Children’s Services and for connected purposes.
