TechTotos has successfully established a state-of-the art digital lab at ACME Shishukunj Nursery School in Limuru, Kiambu County, specifically designed for children aged 4 to 6 years. This completed initiative now provides young learners with access to cutting edge digital tools and resources, enriching their education and expanding their prospects. We’ve made sure every child has access to digital learning so they can thrive in the digital era. By overcoming barriers such as the high cost of learning materials and digital devices, TechTotos has bridged the digital divide, enabling all children to benefit from technology-driven, interactive learning experiences.

ChildFund
Role:Leads overall implementation of the Tech Toto Project, coordinating partners and providing strategic direction. Supports integration of technology in early childhood education, while ensuring safeguarding, community engagement, and strong monitoring of impact.
ACME Industries
Role:Provides technical support and key resources for implementation, including equipping the ICT hub with child-friendly furniture to support a safe and functional learning environment.
ACME Shishkunj Nursery School
Role: Provides a practical learning environment where technology is integrated into early childhood education, enabling children to build foundational digital skills through hands-on learning.
Loho Learning
Role: Designs and curates digital learning content for early learners, ensuring tablets are equipped with engaging, age-appropriate materials that support interactive and effective learning.
- Kiambu
This initiative will improve learning outcomes, build early digital skills, and help reduce education gaps by preparing young children for a digital future. Key outcomes include:
- Digital learning resources for 324 learners (153 boys, 171 girls) aged 4–6, strengthening early childhood education through technology-enabled learning.
- Establishment of a functional digital lab using a converted shipping container, providing safe and inclusive access to technology.
- Child-friendly setup with appropriate furniture, safety, and security measures to support effective learning.
- Reliable internet access to enable continuous use of digital tools and learning materials, supporting digital literacy.
- A fully equipped lab with 30 tablets, a teacher’s laptop, and accessories to ensure equitable access.
- Curriculum-aligned digital content to support literacy, numeracy, and cognitive development through interactive learning.
- Teacher training to build digital skills and improve integration of technology into teaching, enhancing lesson delivery and learner engagement.
