Beyond infrastructure, the project emphasizes long-term sustainability by piping water to 1,500 homesteads, 3 schools, and 1 dispensary.

These connections will ensure ongoing access to safe water and create opportunities for the community to sell bottled water, ultimately impacting 27,500 people. Additionally, the project invests in community education on water hygiene and capacity-building for local water management, empowering residents to maintain and safeguard their water supply for generations to come.

To provide sustainable access to safe, fluoride-free drinking water for households in Kampi ya Samaki through the installation of an appropriate treatment system and establishment of a locally managed service delivery model.

ChildFund co-funded this project alongside other partners,

Hand In Hand

Hand in Hand Eastern Africa supports water projects that go beyond access by focusing on commercialization, enterprise development, and community ownership. The organization works with smallholder farmers and local groups to treat water as a productive asset, building business skills, promoting efficient and sustainable use, linking users to finance, and opening pathways to markets. Through this approach, communities can develop water-based enterprises, strengthen local management structures, and move from subsistence activities to profitable, resilient agribusinesses that improve household incomes.
