Building Brighter Futures: Enhancing Education and WASH Infrastructure in Schools for Health, Safety, and Inclusion is a partnership between ChildFund Kenya and Airtel Money Kenya to improve learning environments for more than 2,000 learners in Baringo, Wajir, and Garissa counties.

The project addresses critical gaps in education infrastructure, access to safe water and sanitation, and inclusive facilities for children with disabilities by constructing and rehabilitating classrooms, improving water and sanitation systems, providing disability-friendly facilities, and expanding access to digital learning opportunities. Through these investments, the project seeks to create healthier, safer, and more inclusive schools where all children can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential while strengthening the capacity of schools and communities to sustainably manage and maintain school infrastructure.

  • Improve access to quality, inclusive, and child-friendly education through the construction of 13 classrooms, renovation of an ICT laboratory and library, and construction of a boys’ dormitory, while enhancing WASH services through 29 toilets, a 30-point handwashing station, and improved water supply infrastructure at Marigat Integrated Day and Boarding Primary School and Marigat Special School for the Visually Impaired in Baringo County.
  • Improve access to quality and inclusive education through the construction of four new classrooms and disability-responsive learning infrastructure, while strengthening WASH services through a modern ablution block, a two-door teacher sanitation facility, a 20-point handwashing station, a 10,000-litre elevated water tank, and water pipeline extension at Garissa School for the Deaf in Garissa County.
  • Expand access to quality and inclusive education through the construction of four new classrooms and improvements to boarding facilities for learners with visual impairments, while enhancing WASH services through an accessible ablution block, a 20-point handwashing station, five-door sanitation blocks for boys and girls, renovation of dormitory bathrooms and toilets, and a solar-powered water supply system with connections to school sanitation facilities and kitchens at Catholic Integrated Primary and Junior School in Wajir County.
